Formal Policy on Accessibility and Accommodations in Regulatory Processes

Classification: Health

Regulatory Body

Royal College of DENTAL SURGEONS of Ontario

Royal College of DENTAL SURGEONS of Ontario

The Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario enacted the "Accessibility and Accommodation: Professional Conduct and Regulatory Affairs Procedures" policy to formally articulate its commitment to providing services in a manner that reflects the aims of the Ontario Human Rights Code ("Code"). The policy applies to registration-related inquiries and appeals. The policy states that the College will accommodate Code-protected needs, subject to the approval of the Registrar or delegate, up to the point of undue hardship.

Where an individual requests Code-related accommodation in order to access the College's regulatory procedures, the policy provides for appropriate safeguarding of information related to the request separate from other information on file for the individual.

If an individual alleges that a College staff member has breached the Code, they may address their concerns in writing to the Registrar, whereupon the concerns will be investigated and the Registrar will communicate the results to the individual who raised the concern.

The policy is available on the College's website.
