Fair Registration Practices Reports

Each regulated profession gives a yearly Fair Registration Practices Report to the Office of the Fairness Commissioner. The report describes the profession's progress in meeting the requirements of the fair access legislation.

The report's content is specified in Guidelines for Fair Registration Practices Reports (PDF document, opens in a new window PDF 160 KB).

The commissioner and her staff analyzed the 2008 reports and found them adequate, but not excellent. To encourage reports of higher quality, they provided a refresher about the Guidelines for all regulators in fall 2009 and discussed commonly made mistakes. In addition, the office improved the password-protected reporting website to make it easier to use.

Fair Registration Practices Reports are public information. Regulatory bodies must make their reports available by March 30 of each year. In addition to analyzing them, the OFC gives them to the Minister of Health and Long-Term Care (for health regulators) or the Minister of Citizenship and Immigration (for non-health regulators).
