College of Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners and Acupuncturists of Ontario

The College of Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners and Acupuncturists of Ontario (CTCMPAO) is the governing body for traditional Chinese medicine practitioners and acupuncturists in Ontario. The Office of the Fairness Commissioner (OFC) oversees the registration practices of the college to ensure that they are transparent, objective, impartial and fair for anyone who wants to practise as a traditional Chinese medicine practitioner or acupuncturist in this province.

The CTCMPAO was established by the Traditional Chinese Medicine Act in 2006 and is represented by its transitional council. In January 2008, OFC staff provided the registrar of the college's transitional council with an overview of the OFC's work and the requirements for compliance with the Regulated Health Professions Act, 1991 as amended, that the CTCMPAO will eventually have to meet. The college is developing regulations and setting standards of practice that will enable it to be fully operational.

The OFC will work closely with the transitional council of the College of Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners and Acupuncturists of Ontario.

The College of Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners and Acupuncturists of Ontario falls under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care.

CTCMPAO The OFC does not assess credentials, handle complaints or intervene in particular cases. Our mandate is one of systemic change. Please contact the CTCMPAO for further information about your ability to practise as a traditional Chinese medicine practitioner or acupuncturist in Ontario.
