College of Veterinarians of Ontario
The College of Veterinarians of Ontario (CVO) is the governing body for veterinarians in Ontario.
The Office of the Fairness Commissioner (OFC) oversees the registration practices of the college to ensure that they are transparent, objective, impartial and fair for anyone who wants to practise as a veterinarian in this province.
In 2009, the CVO submitted its first-ever Fair Registrations Practices (FRP) Report, covering 2008, to the OFC. Since then, it has also submitted an FRP Report covering 2009 and its first audit of registration practices.

During 2008 - 2009, the OFC monitored developments related to the registration practices of the CVO:
In March 2009, the CVO invited the OFC to participate in a labour mobility workshop organized by the Canadian Veterinary Medical Association. The workshop brought together regulators and qualifications assessment agencies from across Canada to discuss the potential impact of the federal-provincial-territorial Agreement on Internal Trade on issues such as veterinary licensing requirements, entry-to-practice standards, scope of practice and examination processes.
