Nuzhat Jafri

Nuzhat Jafri

Nuzhat Jafri became the first executive director of the office of the Fairness Commissioner in September 2007.

She has wide leadership experience in both public and private sectors. She directed diversity initiatives at Scotiabank and previously at the Bank of Montreal.

In the Ontario government, Ms. Jafri led legislation and policy development, human resources and communication functions in various ministries and agencies, including the Ministries of Education, Community and Social Services, Culture and Citizenship and Immigration.

In the community, Ms. Jafri has served as chair and member of several non-profit boards including the Architectural Conservancy of Ontario, Accessible Community Counselling and Employment Services, and South Asian Family Support Services.

She is a multilingual and enjoys grand-motherhood and travelling.
